Κατασκευή Κτιρίου του Κέντρου Πληροφόρησης και Επικοινωνίας και του Κτιρίου Αγοράς στη Κοινότητα Obodan στη Γκάνα

Construction of Information and Communication Technology Center and a Market for Obodan Community in Ghana

The goal of the project is to create an enabling environment where children of Obodan and the surrounding communities will have equal opportunity to access the world of technology, as well as good quality market place where the women of Obodan can sell hygienic food to school children.

Obodan community has a total population of about 1500 indigenous and is the center of about 22 surrounding communities in Ghana.

1. The new ICT building (approx. 100 sq.m) addresses the acute needs of the vulnerable population in the rural areas through the strengthening of basic ICT education, incorporating an integrated approach, which promotes the participation of the community in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the projects.

2. The new Market building (approx. 70 sq.m) serves the local needs in the extended area as there is no marketplace for the women and they are forced to sell food for school children under locally made sheds, roofed with palm branches.

The feasibility studies for both of the 2 buildings have been already accomplished by the Students' Chapter of EWB Ghana Telecom University.
